Eleanor Scott

 

Eleanor Scott, 87, of Scranton, died Friday at Hospice of the Sacred Heart. She was the widow of Francis Scott, who passed away Jan. 25, 1999. Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Hughes Costello, she worked many years as a nurse's aide at Marion Convent and was a member of St. Paul's Church. In her earlier years, she worked in the garment industry and was a member of the Ladies Garment Workers Union. In addition to sewing, Eleanor enjoyed cooking for family dinners and was proud of her Irish Heritage. She was a kind and helping woman who will be deeply missed. Surviving are three daughters, Judith Harris, Mary Ann Scott and Barbara Straub; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Sally Galea; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Eleanor Scott; sister, Betty Andrews; and brothers, Thomas, Michael and Terrence Costello. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Paul's Church, Penn Avenue. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton. Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at McGoff-Hughes Funeral Home Inc/, 1401 Capouse Ave.
