Eleanor Nicholas, 87, of Dunmore, passed away peacefully on June 20 at Glenmaura Senior Living where she resided for the past two years. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 50 years, Robert Nicholas. Born in Scranton on May 24, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Lutien Kanensky. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. She was employed by the Lackawanna Railroad before her retirement. Ellie was a woman of great faith and a compassionate soul who showed kindness towards everyone. She always enjoyed her bingo, playing a couple cards at a time. She loved her sweets, asking about dessert before her meal and had a love of animals. Her best time was with her husband dining at Coopers. She lived a happy, simple life. She is survived by several nieces and nephews, Terry Dean and husband Gerard, Darren Nicholas, Chris Nicholas and wife Becky, Barry Nicholas and wife Susan, Cole Meehan, great nieces and nephews and great great niece and nephew. The family would like to thank Glenmaura Senior Living and Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their kindness, care and devotion to our aunt. A mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, June 24 at 9:30 am in St. Mary's of Mount Carmel Church, 322 Chestnut Street, Dunmore, PA. Interment private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements entrusted to the Eagen-Hughes Funeral Home.
