Dorothy Orzel Ford

 

Dorothy Orzel Ford, 83, Scranton, died Wednesday at Allied Hospice. Born in Scranton to the late Stanley and Helen Orzel, she attended West Scranton High School. Upon graduation, she worked for Prudential Insurance excelling in business and playing softball for the company team. Soon after, she resigned to start a family. Later in life Dorothy worked at Moses Taylor Hospital Central Supply until her retirement. She loved summers at the family's Baylor's Lake Cottage and holidays, especially Christmas Eve. Dorothy was a dedicated member of the Red Hat Society, her hobbies included ceramics, crocheting, bowling and trips to the casino. A loving mother and homemaker, she enjoyed cooking famous polish cuisine together with her sister, Lourdes. Dorothy was a kind and caring soul, who will be loved and missed by all. Preceded in death by late husband Michael E Ford Jr,; sister, Lourdes Orzel Sullivan; brothers, Stanley, Edward and Arthur; and granddaughter Alicia Kwiatkowski. She is survived by her five children, Michael III and wife, Darlene; Paul and wife, Sheila; Maureen Edmondson and husband, Butch; Gary and wife, Tina; and Glenn and wife, Kelly; 10 grandchildren, Michael, Justin, Kelly, Andrew, Hana, Cole, Alexa, Mariah, Kyle and Chelsey; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Nurse John Duffy, Nursing Supervisor Abdul Azizi, Kattie, Ben, Sara Marie, Sarah, Johnessa and the entire Staff at the Green Ridge Care Center, along with the staff at Allied Hospice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11am in St. Ann's Basilica, Scranton. Interment, SS Peter & Paul Cemetery, Taylor. Friends may call Tuesday from 5-8pm at the Thomas J Hughes Funeral Home Inc, 1240 St. Ann St, Scranton. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the donor's favorite charity.
