Dorothy Laboranti, 74, of Scranton, died Thursday at Allied Hospice Center after an illness.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Shirley M. Krisovich, she attended Scranton public schools and was a member of Court Street United Methodist Church. She was a loving mother that adored her children and family. She raised four very strong and independent children all by herself! Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her entire family, celebrating life to the fullest. She was always the life of the party at family gatherings with her infectious laughter. She was the kind of person that you loved to be around and her presence instantly made you feel good.
Dorothy loved her days of playing bingo, always hoping to win the big jackpot for her family. More importantly were the times she shared with family in her presence, playing board games and cards, watching television and having beautiful life lasting conversations. She was a very kind, loving and supportive person, who will be deeply missed.
Surviving are her son, George Hulse, Scranton; three daughters, Tina Strasburger and husband, John, Cape Coral, Fla.; Tammy McHale and husband, Michael, Scranton; and Dorothy Miller and husband, Jeff, Clifford; three sisters, Linda Loughney, Barbara Kakareka and Diane Krisovitch, all of Scranton; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom she loved immensely.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Edward Krisovitch.
The family would like to thank the loving staff of doctors and nurses at Regional Hospital and Allied Services Hospice for their outstanding care.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the McGoff-Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 1401 Capouse Ave., Scranton. Interment, Primitive Methodist Cemetery, Dickson City. Friends may call Monday from 4 to 7 p.m.

I will always keep Dorothy (Dot) in my prayers. I always enjoyed the time I got to spend with her. I remember many years ago, she was out on that dance floor and wow, could she "cut a rug". I was amazed when she loved all the same classic rock and roll (especially Bob Seger), that I loved. I thought she was very hip. We loved when she came to Wildwood for vacation, she lit up the room. God Bless her in heaven, and God Bless her family, until we all meet her again, on that dance floor in heaven.
