Dorothy Jones

 

Dorothy V. Jones, formerly Dorothy V. Marcheona, of Scranton, died Saturday at Old Forge Manor. Dorothy served as a medic in the United States Air Force, and she was proud to be a veteran. She was valedictorian at VoTech LPN School in 1976. She was an LPN in Community Medical Center for 17 years, the Jewish Home briefly, Interim Home Health for 13 years, Scranton Primary Health Care Center for 13 years, and per diem after retirement. Active in her church and community, Dorothy sang in the choir at North Main Street Baptist Church, was former nursery coordinator at Jackson St. Baptist Church, one-year coordinator at Awana, and president of the Hyde Park Bible Institute at its closing. In addition, she enjoyed swimming, walking, traveling and spending time with family. Surviving are her sons, Brad Passino Sr., of Scranton; Sean Passino, of Alexandria, Va.; sister, Edith Watson and her husband, Nelson; her bridges to heaven, her grandchildren, Candice Murphy, of Scranton; and her children, Adam, Rosemary and Donna Jr.; Brad Passino Jr., of Washington; and his child, Nati; Karen Fritchman, of Summerville, S.C., her husband, Andrew, and their children, Kayle and Jamison; Fiona Passino and Liam Passino, of Burke, Va.; Donna Passino, daughter to her heart; uncle, Rev. William Buffton; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by parents, Mary Seymour and Robert Buffton Sr.; stepparents, Dorothy “Dot” Buffton and Thomas “Bill” Seymour; brother, Robert Buffton Jr.; stepsister, Jeane Moser; stepsons, Nicholas and Anthony Marcheona; and beloved husband, Donald B. Jones, whom the Lord blessed her with his great love. To my family: Stand fast on Christ, the Solid Rock. The winds of life may leave you shaken but won’t knock you down. I love you. Always and forever. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Davies & Jones Funeral Chapel, 135 S. Main Ave., Scranton. Interment, Abington Hills Cemetery.
