Donna DePoley, 60, of Scranton, passed away Monday at Geisinger Community Medical Center following a brief illness, leaving behind a world made brighter by her presence and quieter by her absence.
Donna was the daughter of Christine Chorba DePoley and the late Joseph DePoley and a graduate of Scranton Central High School. With her spirited personality and infectious laughter, Donna had a presence that could fill a room and leave a lasting impression on everyone she met.
For decades, Donna was a beloved face at Nicholas’s Pizza Shop, where she shared countless laughs and formed friendships with customers and colleagues who became like family. She previously worked at the Scranton Lace Company and Haddon Craftsmen, where she cherished the years spent working alongside her father until its closure.
Donna enjoyed craft fairs, church picnics, and family gatherings and absolutely adored her young nephew, Evan, whom she showered with love and attention. She also had a talent for decorating for the holidays and loved embarking on shopping adventures with her sister.
In addition to her longtime companion, John Evans, Donna is survived by her mother, Christine Chorba DePoley; her brothers, John and Richard; her sister, Joanne; her niece, Sarah; her nephew, Evan; and many cherished relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph DePoley.
Family and friends may pay their respects Thursday, October 15, from 4 to 6 p.m. at McGoff-Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 1401 Capouse Ave., Scranton. A funeral service will be held Friday, October 16, at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery in Archbald, followed by burial.
