
Diane M Walsh, 86, Minooka, passed away peacefully at home on May 19, 2026. She was the beloved
wife of William J. Walsh, whom she shared 48 years of marriage with before his passing in 2021.
Born May 8, 1940, to Francis and Josephine Bolton, she was raised in Scranton and graduated from
South Catholic High School in 1959, where she formed lasting friendships and cherished memories she
carried with her through the years. Before her retirement, she dedicated 25 years of service working as
a clerk for the Scranton School District.
She was a devout member of Divine Mercy Parish in Scranton, where she found comfort, friendship and
great joy singing in the church choir. Her faith was an important part of her life and brought her a deep
sense of purpose and community. She also enjoyed spending time in a bowling league, where she could
be found sharing laughter, friendship and many happy times with those she loved.
She treasured her children and grandchildren, and cherished every moment spent with them. She is
survived by her four children, her sons, Christopher Day and wife Kelly, Flourtown, PA; William and wife
Maryann, Scranton; Michael, Scranton; and a daughter Kelly Malinowski and husband Robert, Archbald;
nine grandchildren, Jack, Katie, and Emmie Day; Jacob, Keegan and Liam Walsh; Kaden and Kody
Malinowski; and Kyle Matay.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, as well as her caregivers, Debbie
Grippo and Addy Hernandez for their compassionate care and kindness.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Paul A. McDonnell, O.S.J. Pastor on Tuesday, May 26th at 1pm in Divine Mercy Parish, 312 Davis St, Scranton. Family and friends may call Tuesday, May 26th from 10AM to 12:30 PM at the Eagen-Hughes Funeral Home, 2908 Birney Ave, Scranton. Interment Cathedral Cemetery.
