
David John Kauffman of West Scranton died Thursday at Allied Services Hospice Center at age 65.
Born June 14, 1956, he was the son of the late Beverly Vail and John James Kauffman. David, although born in Newark, N.J., grew up in the Scranton area including Moscow and Old Forge. In his youth, he worked as a “gun fighter” at Rocky Glen’s Ghost Town themed park. He also enjoyed fishing the Susquehanna River with friends.
David is survived by his brothers, James Kauffman (Ohio) and Daniel Kauffman and his wife, Susan of Scranton. Also surviving are sisters, Kimberly Kauffman Brown (Colorado), Abbe Kauffman Kovacik (New York), Amy Kauffman Kloss and Laura Kauffman Decker, Scranton.
Also surviving are three grandchildren, one great-grandson, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
David is predeceased by his son, Jason David Kauffman.
David lost his longtime companion, who he called his wife, Cynthia Hamm in 2015. He is also preceded by his maternal grandmother, Muriel Kutniewski, who loved him unconditionally.
Cremation will be followed by an interment service July 10 at 10 a.m. in Madisonville Cemetery with the Rev. Eric Luczuk, Daleville United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the care of T.J. Hughes Funeral Home, Scranton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick’s Food Pantry, 1403 Jackson St., Scranton, PA 18504.
