Cynthia Holmes, 47, of Scranton, passed away unexpectedly in her home on Sunday, November 9th. She was preceded in death by her fiancé, Theodore “Duval” Miles Jr., and her parents, John and Helene Holmes.
Born on March 14th, 1978, Cynthia was the youngest of Helene and John Holmes’ four children. She kept the Greenridge streets on watch as the wild child she was before starting her own family.
Cynthia took pride in her beloved supervisor position at Crossmark/Sam’s Club in Dickson City, where she worked extremely hard, made lasting connections, and was the store's star. Before her tenure at Sam’s Club, Cynthia left her mark in other service industry jobs, where she made sure she was unforgettable.
She was known for her deep generosity, always having a kind word to say (in between her uncensored humor and smart remarks, of course) and remembering every detail people entrusted to her. She took care of everyone around her, no matter what—starting with her long list of phone calls she made to her closest family and friends every morning without fail.
Everything Cynthia did was fueled by her love for her children and grandchildren, who will stay strong as her spirit lives on. She was an adoring mother to her children and the best Ya-Ya her grandsons Jayce and Kai could ever ask for. They were her proudest moments, her heart, and her entire world.
Surviving are her children: Alyssa Kauffman and fiancé Tyler Farrell, and Mayah, Laqwon, Tymel, Kyra, and Shanyce Miles; grandsons Jayce and Kai Farrell; one brother, Jake Holmes and wife Breeda; two sisters: Stephanie Holmes and fiancé Mark Coviello, and Susan Nicholas and husband Barry; several nieces and nephews; and all of the other family members that she claimed along the way.
A celebration of life will be held Thursday from 11:30-1:30pm in the Thomas J Hughes FH Inc, 1240 St. Ann St., Scranton, with a following service at Cathedral Cemetery.
