Curtis D. Stewart

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Curtis D. Stewart, the most loving and caring son, brother, and uncle. Curtis was the first born son of Charles and Norma (Rivera) Stewart and sister to Renita Stewart Joyce and husband Kevin of Bethlehem, Caroline Stewart Heen and husband Frank of Clarks Summit, and Linda Stewart Cecil and husband Leonard of Louisville, Ky. He was an uncle to nephews Cory Stewart, Bailey Cooper, Stephen Little, Tyler Little and Jared Little, niece Veronica Joyce as well a great uncle to several nieces and a nephew. He was predeceased by his baby brother Stephen in 1958. Curtis was a graduate of Scranton Tech, and received a B.S. in Medical Social Work from the University of Scranton in 1978. He worked at the Trane Company in Dunmore for many years. He dedicated his life to caring for his parents up to the time of his death. Curtis was an avid reader, intelligent beyond words and had an amazingly quick wit. His immense kindness, love, and compassion will be so greatly missed. As a passion, he loved animals greatly, and became an advocate for and caretaker of many outdoor cats, took many into his home, and continued to care for many more as his porch cats. Curtis is and will forever be tremendously loved by all of us. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 10 A.M. at Immaculate Conception Church, in Scranton. A viewing will be held in the church from 9 A.M. until the service begins. Afterward, Curtis will be interred at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Cemetery, on Davis St. in Scranton. Arrangements by McGoff-Hughes Funeral Home, 1401 Capouse Avenue, Scranton.
