Constance Gore Killeen

 

Constance Gore Killeen, affectionately known as Connie, cherished as a daughter, sister, aunt, great-aunt and friend to many, peacefully passed away in Taylor, Pa., on May 28 at the age of 78. The youngest of four children of Dr. Thomas Gore and Marguerite Killeen, Connie was born on Oct. 28, 1945, in Scranton, Pa. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Thomas Gore Killeen; her sisters, Mary Lou McDermott and Gayle K. Davis; her nephew, Joseph A. Eagen III; and brothers-in-law, William Davis, Joseph A. Eagen Jr. and Lee McDermott. She is survived by her sister, Peggy Eagen, of Kingston; her nieces and nephews, Thomas (Megan) Eagen, of Kingston; Katherine (William) Thornton, of Wyomissing; John (Maureen) Eagen, of Philadelphia; Robert (Jennifer) Eagen, of Los Angeles, Calif.; Michael (Cindy) McDermott, of Barrington, R.I.; Gayle McDermott of New York City; and Nicky Davis, Scranton. Connie was an employee at the Scranton Lace Company and spent much of her free time with friends at the Deutsch Institute where she loved arts and crafts, dancing, and enjoying day trips to explore nature and wildlife. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Susan Malar, both a treasured caretaker and a beloved family friend, for her unwavering dedication and compassionate care over the span of many years. A memorial service will be scheduled at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in memory of Constance Killeen to Deutsch Institute, 835 Jefferson Ave., Scranton, PA. Arrangements entrusted to the Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home, 1240 St. Ann’s Street, Scranton, PA
