Charlotte Louise (Heidig) Miles

Charlotte Louise (Heidig) Miles, 84, of South Abington Township, passed away at home on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. A loving wife, devoted mother, proud grandmother and cherished friend, Charlotte leaves behind a lifetime of love, laughter and memories that will remain in the hearts of those who knew her. Born on May 29, 1942, in West Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Louise (Reger) Heidig and was a proud graduate of West Scranton High School. Before her retirement, she was employed by FlowServe Corporation. Charlotte shared more than 60 beautiful years with her beloved husband, Bruce Miles. High school sweethearts, they built a life filled with love, laughter and devotion to their family. Their enduring bond was an inspiration to those around them, and the family they raised together was Charlotte’s greatest joy. Caring, intelligent and wonderfully funny, Charlotte had a gift for making people feel welcome, accepted and loved. She met others without judgment, offered friendship freely and brought warmth to every gathering. Beautiful, both inside and out, she had a lively spirit and a sense of humor that could brighten a room and turn an ordinary moment into a treasured memory. Above all, Charlotte loved caring for her family. She gave generously of herself as a wife and mother, and she delighted in being a grandmother to Jordan, Ben, Evan, Alex and Trevor. Her grandchildren brought her tremendous happiness, and she gave them a lasting gift in the love, laughter and memories they shared. Charlotte also treasured her friendships. Genuine, loyal and always ready to share a laugh, she was the kind of friend people could count on. Whether spending time with loved ones, enjoying good company or trying her luck at the casino, she found joy in life and made time together special. She is survived by her son, Chris Miles; her daughter and caregiver, Audra McCloe, and her husband, Maurice; and her five beloved grandchildren, Jordan, Ben, Evan, Alex and Trevor; as well as many loving cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bruce Miles; her infant daughter, Rebecca Miles; her parents, Robert and Louise Heidig; her brother, Robert Heidig Jr.; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Melba and Joseph McGinty; and her sisters-in-law, DeAnn Cook and Sandra Duff. Charlotte’s family extends heartfelt gratitude to everyone at Allied Hospice who cared for her, especially Chris, Heather, Jennifer and Cheryl, for their compassion and exceptional care. Their dedication and support brought comfort to Charlotte and her family during a difficult time and will always be remembered with deep appreciation. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home. Service details will be announced at a later date. Though our hearts are broken, we are grateful for every moment we shared with her. We will remember her in the stories we tell, the laughter that brings us together and the ways we continue to care for one another. Her love was her legacy, her laughter was her gift, and her memory will live in our hearts forever.
