May 5, 1943 to October 27, 2023

Carol B. Williams of Nanticoke, 80, passed away peacefully at home of COPD early Friday morning. Carol’s Christian faith was the cornerstone of her life and she has gone home to be with the Lord.
Born May 5, 1943, in Scranton, daughter of the late Thomas Balon and Winifred Lake, she attended West Scranton schools before attaining her GED and a nurse’s aide certification from Marywood College. She worked as a seamstress and nurse’s aide but being a mom was her best and favorite job. She took care of her family, both immediate and extended, and was generous with her time and resources.
She was an artistic person, and an exceptional singer and dancer. She loved animals, caring for numerous rescue pets plus wild birds and squirrels. She was an avid gardener of both vegetables and blooming plants. She was a voracious reader with an extensive library.
Carol is survived by her children, Deborah Williams Sorrill and husband, Richard; Vincent Michael Petroziello and wife, Rebecca (daughter, Rachel); and Lori Petroziello Fritz and husband, Eric (sons, Eric and David).
Carol was preceded by her siblings, George Lake, Katherine Lake Hayes, Theodore Balon and Joseph Androski.
We’d like to thank Allied Services Hospice. Everyone was wonderful and we could not be more appreciative.
In keeping with Carol’s wishes, she will be cremated and buried privately at the Washburn Street Cemetery with her mother, with a celebration of life party in lieu of a classic viewing and funeral. Celebration details to follow. Arrangements by Davies & Jones Funeral Chapel.
