Bruce Allen Miles

June 27, 1940 to December 9, 2023

Bruce Allen Miles, 83, of Clarks Summit passed away peacefully at home on December 9, 2023. Bruce was born in Scranton on June 27, 1940. He was the son of the late Edward Miles, who passed away in 1943, Joseph McGinty, who passed away in 1995 and the late Melba (Williams) McGinty who passed away in 2001. Bruce is survived by his wife Charlotte (Heidig). They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 20, 2024. Bruce fell in love with his wife Charlotte when they were very young children growing up in West Scranton, when Bruce was the paper boy for Charlotte’s family. He always said that from the moment he saw her, he knew she would be the love of his life and he lived up to that. She was his entire world and was lost since she fell ill. Together they had built a beautiful life together, raising their two children and being “snowbirds” for over 20 years, vacationing in Florida every year. Everyone who knew Bruce respected him. He was loving, kind, giving, supportive, hard-working, and dedicated, even though he could be opinionated and strong-willed. He was always a loyal friend, an amazing father, and a devoted husband. Bruce graduated from West Scranton High School and shortly after went into the Army Reserves, stationed at Fort Dix and was Honorably discharged. Once he came home, he married his childhood sweetheart, Charlotte. Bruce worked for over 40 years for the Pennsylvania Gas and Water Company, which has become PG Energy. After his retirement, Bruce worked for Linde Corporation for a few years before he retired indefinitely to spend his time with his loving wife. Bruce was a member and Past Master of the Free and Accepted Masons, Hyde Park Lodge in Scranton, PA. In his free time, Bruce enjoyed fishing, golfing, coaching his son for youth basketball and baseball and going out with his best friends every Friday night for pizza. He also enjoyed spending every moment he could with his five grandsons who meant the world to him. Bruce is survived by his son, Christian Miles, Wake Forest, NC, his daughter, Audra McCloe, and his son-in-law, Maurice McCloe, Clarks Summit. He was a proud grandfather to Jordan McCloe, Ben Miles, Evan McCloe, Alex Miles, and Trevor Miles. Bruce also had many close family and friends including his close cousins Paul Taylor and wife Debbie and Robert Taylor and wife Karen along with many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Bruce was preceded in death by his daughter, Rebecca Miles, his mother, Melba McGinty, his father, Joseph McGinty, his aunt, Lydia Taylor, his sister, DeAnn Cook, and his sister, Sandra Duff. We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to his dedicated caregivers, Patti and Johanna, as well as the nurses from Allied Hospice, for all the dedication and care they provided him during his illness. A ceremony to celebrate Bruce's life will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2024, from 2pm-4pm at Thomas J Hughes Funeral Home, 1240 St Ann St, Scranton, PA 18504. Contributions in his memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

So sorry to hear about the loss of Mr Miles, he and his wife welcomed me like their own when we were growing up. He was a good man, great father and adoring husband. Rest in peace.
