Bernadette Bracey, 91, of Minooka, passed away peacefully at home on July 2nd, surrounded by family. She was the widow of Daniel J. Bracey, who passed away in 1997. Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Timothy and Bridget Corbett Kearney. She worked for the Scranton School District, most recently as a secretary at Whittier Elementary before her retirement. She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish. Surviving are her children, Joyce Marcelli (Alex) of Springfield, VA, Danny Bracey (Patricia) of Jefferson Twp., Kathy DiEmidio (Mark) of Hershey, Pat Lucas (Al) of Minooka, and Michael Bracey (Jaimie) of Minooka and her 17 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, and one on the way. She was preceded in death by her seven siblings, Joseph, Martin, and Paul Kearney, Kay Yancilla, Rose Kurilla, Peggy Murray and Dorothy Murray. A special thanks to Lisa Olechna for her care and companionship over the past several years and to Norma Boone for her compassionate care in her final days. Her children would like to acknowledge her son-in-law, Al Lucas, for his love and devotion. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 8th at 10am at Divine Mercy Parish, Davis Street, by Rev. Francis L. Pauselli, Pastor. Interment, St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Scranton. Friends may call Friday from 4-7pm at Eagen-Hughes Funeral Home, 2908 Birney Avenue, Scranton. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Divine Mercy at St. Joe’s in Minooka, St. Ann’s Basilica in Scranton or to Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore.
