Barbara M. Ocwieja December 12, 2022 Barbara M. Ocwieja, 85, of Scranton, passed away peacefully Monday morning. Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Frank Barnic and Constance Yarosheski, prior to retirement, she was employed by RCA/Thomson Consumer Electronics in Dunmore for more than 30 years. Barbara was not only a great mothers, she was also a special friend to her three children. She was a strong and independent woman who appreciated beautiful flowers and took special pride planting petunias in the flower box her husband made for her many years ago. She loved animals and was very fond of all dogs, especially her son John’s hunting dog, “Duke.” Barbara was a great lady and will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Surviving are her son, John D. Ocwieja and wife, Donna M., Clarks Summit; daughter, Barbara J. Thomas and husband, William, Scranton; son-in-law, Robert Federovitch, Throop; grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John C. “Ozzie” Ocwieja, in 1995; daughter, Nancy L. Federovitch, in 2017; brother, Frank Barnic; and sister-in-law, Ann Marie Barnic. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 1240 St. Ann’s St., Scranton.
