January 7, 1908 to December 7, 1990

August C. Timinskas (Thomesky) died Friday at Mercy Hospital at the age of 82.
He was born January 7, 1908 in Scranton, the son of Anthony and Julia Bubalus Timinskas. He attended Van Buren (No. 31), labored in Brigg's coal mine, and served his country honorably in the United States Army during World War II as a Private First Class.
When the war was over, he headed to Michigan to work in the copper mines and returned to Scranton as a black powder maker for I.E. Dupont Co. until his retirement in 1973.
"Uncle Gus" was a lifetime active member of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Lithuanian Church in Scranton and was always ready to help his sister-in-law, Mother Amadeus C.J.C. at St. Mary's Villa, Elmhurst, with TV repair.
An interest in electronics turned testing and replacing television tubes into a hobby. He was gifted in photography and developed hundreds of pictures in his darkroom. Gus had the most beautiful cursive handwriting and practiced penmanship daily.
Holidays and family were very important to him. Nothing made Gus happier than enjoying traditional Lithuanian dishes prepared at home. He was a decent, thoughtful, generous man who will always be remembered for going out of his way to be kind to others.
In addition to his parents, August was preceded in death by brothers Anthony (1915), Edward Joseph (1987), Peter (1990), and sister-in-law Anne (1990).
he was lovingly cared for by his sister-in-law Mary Timins R.N. with whom he resided and Goddaughter, Bonita Timins until his passing. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, extended family, and many friends.
A funeral Mass will be held Monday from the Thomas J Hughes Funeral Home, 1240 St. Ann St, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Ann's Monastery Church. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery.
