Anne Marie Astolfi

 

Anne Marie (O’Brien Cola) Astolfi, 67, of Scranton, passed away on January 27, 2025 at Regional Hospital of Scranton after a courageous battle with cancer and other medical issues. She is survived by her husband Tony and son Joseph Cola, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Jerome J. and Joan C. Orzel O’Brien. She was a graduate of West Scranton High School, class of 1975, where she was secretary of her senior class. She was a member of St. Ann’s Basilica Parish and a cantor for over 30 years. Anne Marie was known for many years as “The Cake Lady” of West Side. She had a wonderful cake business with many loyal customers. She also loved reading, gardening, antiquing and music. One of her greatest thrills was getting the chance to meet Andrea Bocelli. Ann Marie was a nurse who loved the medical field where she most recently worked at Northeastern Eye Associates. She was a devoted wife, mother and friend. She is survived by two brothers, Jerry and wife Diane O’Brien, Gilbertsville, James and wife Robyn, Nicholson and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Autumn, who always made her smile and filled her heart with joy. The family would like to thank the nursing staff and doctors at Regional Hospital who took such excellent care of Anne Marie. The funeral will be Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at 11:00 am in St. Ann’s Basilica. Family and friends may call from 9:00 to 10:45 in the Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home, 1240 St. Ann’s Street, Scranton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Ann’s Basilica. Inurnment will be private at the convenience of the family.
