William P. Walters Sr.

April 3, 1942 to April 3, 2017

William Paul Walters Sr., 82, of West Scranton, and formerly of Clarks Green and Safety Harbor Fl., was reunited with his wife of 55 years, Patricia Ann. Bill passed away on Sunday at Geisinger Community Medical Center following an illness.Born May 28, 1934 in Scranton, son of the late Alfred Jacob Walter and Elizabeth Sarah Keely, he was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and Lackawanna College, and served in the US Army. Prior to retirement, he served 25 years at the County Prison--as Captain of the Guards, and also as a deputy sheriff. Bill was also owner of Roche TV and the Constable of Clarks Green for a number of years. After retiring, he worked for Starr Uniform.Surviving are a son, William P. Walters Jr., Pittston; a daughter, Debra Ann Smith and husband Joseph W. Smith Jr., West Scranton; six grandchildren, Amanda Ann Smith and fiancé Jacob Ronald Kellogg, Jacob Ryan Smith and girlfriend Courtney Ann Fox, Nicholas Patrick Smith, Sarah Elizabeth Smith, all of West Scranton; and Nicole and Kristen Walters, Pittston; a nephew, Jackie Walters and wife Linda, Safety Harbor Fl.; and two nieces, Betty Ann Zielazowski, Archbald; and Kathy Zielazowski, West Scranton.He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Ann; a brother, Jack; and a nephew, Jimmy.The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 7pm in the Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home, Inc., 1240 St. Ann St., Scranton. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, on Thursday at 10am with Military Honors. Friends may call Wednesday starting at 4pm.
