William C. “Butch” Evans Jr., 79, of Scranton, passed away at home on Sunday. His wife of 53 years is Maria Drowns Evans.Born in Scranton, son of the late William C. Sr. and Gertrude Lowe Evans, he was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School class of 1956, and was of the Protestant faith. Before retirement, he drove tractor trailers for many companies. Butch was a Navy and Marine Corps veteran and member of the American Legion Post 665 in Dickson City.An avid hunter and fisherman, who also and loved his motorcycle, he will be deeply missed.Also surviving are three sons, William C. III, Colorado; Brian and Terry and partner, Jackie Kile, all of Bangor; three grandchildren, Sarah, Tyler and Joshua; two sisters, Barbara Caramanno and husband, Richard; and Diane Hughes and husband, Robert; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, “Junior.”The family wishes to express their thanks to the Dickson City VNA Hospice for their care and attention to Bill.The funeral service will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in the McGoff-Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 1401 Capouse Ave., Scranton. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst. Friends may call Friday from 5 to 7 p.m.
