Vera Labukas, 91, of Scranton, died Monday at Allied Skilled Nursing. She was the widow of Joseph P. Labukas, who died March 28, 1994.Born in Throop, daughter of the late Stephen and Anna Bubnis Zmiauskas, she was a member of Mary, Mother of God Parish and a graduate of Scranton Technical High School class of 1943. Before retirement, she was involved in the family business, Labukas Food Center. For her past time, she enjoyed visiting the casinos and spending time with her family.Surviving are two sons, Joseph Labukas, Throop; and Thomas D. Labukas and wife, Kathy, Scranton; seven grandchildren, Joseph, Kathy; Thomas and fiancée, Megan; Jamie, Melissa, Danny and David; six great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.She was also preceded in death by three brothers, John, Ben and Stan “Sharkey” Zmiauskas; and three sisters, Josephine, Helen and Margo.The funeral will be Saturday at 9 a.m. from the McGoff-Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 1401 Capouse Ave., Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in Mary, Mother of God Parish, William Street. Interment, St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Throop.Friends may call Friday, 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 340 Montage Mountain Road, Moosic, PA 18507.
