Thomas P. Quinn

January 9, 1942 to January 9, 2017

Thomas P. Quinn, 83, of Dunmore, passed on to eternal life on Friday at Geisinger Community Medical Center following a brief illness. He is survived by his wife Jane OMalley Quinn. The couple celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary in May.Born in the Nativity section of Scranton, son of the late Joseph L. and Mae Barrett Quinn, he was a graduate of South Catholic High School and the University of Scranton. After graduation, he served in Korea as a Second Lieutenant for the United States Army. Upon returning to the States, he was employed by Capital Records in South Scranton. Tom later became the personnel director at RCA in Dunmore where he spent the next 30 years. A man of incredible faith and devotion to the Blessed Mother, he attended Mass daily and was a member of St. Paul Parish. He was a loyal and dedicated husband, father, brother, uncle and friend as well as a treasured 'Papa'. Also surviving are a son, Thomas J. and wife Amy Therrien Quinn, Elmhurst; two daughters, Kathleen Quinn Walsh and husband Gerald J., Dunmore; Maura K. Quinn and Kelly A. Peterson, Philadelphia; nine grandchildren, Jerry T., Timothy Q., Conor P., Daniel J., Kevin J., Taryn K. Walsh, and Thomas P., Abigail M., and Aleah F. Quinn; three sisters, Ann Quinn Cadden, Pittston; Joan Quinn Cottone, Dunmore; and Frances Quinn Hale, Altamonte Springs, FL.He was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Quinn Collins and a brother, Joseph E. Quinn.The family wishes to convey genuine gratitude to his primary care doctor Ferdinand Manahan, to his critical care doctor Patricio Andres Sanchez Cueva, and to his critical care nurse Nikki Kargul, in addition to all of the compassionate staff who contributed to his care at Geisinger Community Medical Center.The funeral will be Thursday at 9:45 am from the McGoff-Hughes Funeral Home, Inc., 1401 Capouse Ave., Scranton with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Pauls Church. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.
