Dr. Joseph A. Perfilio

Dr. Joseph A Perfilio, 84, of Glenmaura, died Monday at Geisinger Community Medical Center. His wife is Marjorie Campbell-Perfilio of New York CityBorn in Scranton, son of the late Francis and Jenny Galdieri Perfilio, he was a member St. Peters Cathedral and St. Anns Basilica. Known affectionately to his family, friends, and patients as 'Doctor Joe' he was a graduate of Pittston Area High School and the University of Scranton Class of 1951. Following graduation, he proudly enlisted in the US Air Force for three years, where he attained the rank of Sergeant while serving in the Korean War. He then graduated from the Palmer College of Chiropractics in 1957 and opened his practice on South Main Avenue in West Scranton. Dr. Joe remained there until opening the Perfilio Chiropractic Research Center with his brother, Dr. Thomas Perfilio, on the Morgan Highway in 1976. He later moved to Keyser Avenue and finally retired from his Chinchilla office in 2012. For thirty years, he was a member of the Glen Oak Country Club.The family would like to thank Dr. Tom Minora, Dr. Madhava S. Rao, Dr. Ira Kohn, Dr. Edward Batzel, and the staffs of Mountain View Care Center A Wing and the 8th Floor of Geisinger CMCSurviving are a son Joseph C. Perfilio, Moosic; nieces, nephews, and cousinsHe was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Perfilio on Aug 6, 1994, and two brothers, Thomas and Paschal PerfilioThe funeral will be Saturday at 9:45am from the Thomas J Hughes Funeral Home, Inc 1240 St Ann St, Scranton Pa 18504 with Mass of Christian burial at 10am in St. Anns Basilica Church. Interment, Hickory Grove Cemetery, Waverly.
