William 'Billy' Kibert

January 18, 1943 to January 18, 2018

William (Billy) John Kibert, age 63, died at home in Scranton, Pennsylvania on December 29, 2017. The cause was chronic pulmonary disease. He is survived by his sister Annette and his brothers Steven, Charles and Leonard as well as 10 nieces and nephews - Charlotte, Jesse, Nicole, Hallie, Daniel, Brynn, Evan, Andrew, Matthew, Alina, and great niece Arwan and great nephew Joe (born December 31, 2017.) His brother Ronald preceded him in death, as did his parents.Born October 14, 1954 in Scranton, he attended Scranton Preparatory High School and North Scranton Junior High School. He moved to Champaign, Illinois and then to Corvallis, Oregon to live with the Lahey family. He finished high school in Corvallis, Oregon and attended Oregon State University where he studied computer science. He eventually returned to Scranton where he has lived for 30 years. He is a veteran of the United States Air Force.William was employed by Reich Trucking Company in Tunkhannock (where he lived for a number of years) and was a proud member of the Teamsters Union Local #229. Union. He loved to work on computer software and hardware, creating custom, specialized programs for friends and employers. He loved his family, friends, railroads, computers, Oregon and Scranton. He will be remembered for his quirky sense of humor, his loyalty as well his kindness. Services will be held in Scranton at 10 AM, Saturday, February 10 at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church/Saint Thomas Moore Parish at the corner of Theodore Street and North Main Avenue with a reception to follow at 11:30 at Stirna’s Restaurant at 120 West Market Street, Scranton, PA.
