John C Osmun Jr., formerly of Scranton died Friday in Wesley Village, Laflin. His wife was the former Mary Jo Gilmartin Osmun, who died October 30, 2005. The couple had been married for 62 yearsBorn in Factoryville, son of the late John C. Osmun Sr. and Thirza Wrigley Osmun, he was a member of St. Paul’s Church, attended Scranton Public Schools and a graduate of Scranton Technical High School. He was a US Navy veteran having served during World War II, where he received the World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, and the Asiatic Pacific Medal. Prior to retirement he was employed as Director of Food Services at Marywood University for 35 years.John was a former Member of the Knights of Columbus Council #650, and Past President of PA Restaurant Association.The family would like to thank the staff of Wesley Village and Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the kind and compassionate care which was given to John his familySurviving two daughters Patricia A Johnson and husband David of Moscow; Mary Ann Osmun, Wilkes Barre; one grandson Michael Johnson Prague, Czech Republic; one sister Helen Pearce, Henderson NC; nieces, nephews and cousinsHe was preceded in death by one sister Shirley OsmunThe funeral will be Tuesday with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in St. Paul’s Church 1510 Penn Ave., to be celebrated by Msgr. William Feldcamp, Pastor Interment St. Catherine’s Cemetery Moscow.
