Marlene Mancia

Marlene Mancia of Sugarland, Texas, died Monday in Sugarland Healthcare Center. She was the widow of Robert G. Mancia, who died Nov. 9, 2011. Born in Jersey City, N.J., daughter of the late Michael and Mildred Wadika Pendrak, she was a member of St. Bernadette Church in Clear Lake, Texas. She was educated in Scranton public schools and a graduate of Scranton Central High School. Before retirement, Marlene owned and operated Fashion Fantasy Hair Salon, South Scranton. Marlene enjoyed fishing, pinnacle and going out to dinner with family and friends. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her son and grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who will be deeply missed. Surviving are a son, Michael R. Mancia and wife, Mayra, Sugarland; two grandsons, Maximus T. Mancia and Michael T. Mancia; two brothers, Michael Pendrak, Dover, N.J.; and John Pendrak, Scranton; a sister, Paula Plishka, Clarks Summit; nieces, nephews and cousins.She was also preceded in death by a son, Mark Mancia. The funeral will be Friday at 10 a.m. from the Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 1240 St. Anns St., Scranton, with Divine Liturgy to be celebrated at 10:30 in St. Marys Byzantine Catholic Church, Linden Street and Mifflin Avenue, Scranton, by her godson, the Rev. Richard Plishka, director of the Byzantine Catholic Cultural Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst. Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
